Emergency Childcare Service
is available under
the following circumstances:
- when the CF member is employed/deployed away from home and spouse/caregiver is unavailable due to illness or any other family emergency;
- when the CF member is required to report for duty on short notice and the spouse/usual caregiver is unavailable;
- when a single parent or both parents are CF members and they unable to access the regular childcare provider in a deployment/emergency situation
- when there is illness of a child that would prevent a parent from accessing regular arrangement for care at a time when the CF members presence at work is critical to the military operation;
- when there is a need for respite childcare due to the total family situation, including the CF members work commitments; and
- when there are other circumstances not covered in the above and childcare is believed to be the solution to the problem. In such cases, the Emergency Childcare Coordinator (ecc) at the local MFRC must give approval in consultation with the Director Military Family Services (DMFS).
Members are expected to:
- have a regular childcare plan, including a back-up plan, in effect cover childcare during regular working hours
- have a Family Care Plan (FCP) in place in the event of an emergency or planned deployment
